About the Author
Jeffery Wolf Green is a world-renowned astrologer who has combined his deep spiritual insights with the vast experience gained by counseling over 16,000 clients into a significant new science called Evolutionary Astrology.
Green's life experience is practically as wide as his vision. He saw service in Vietnam, spent two years in a Vedantic monastery, studied in a matriarchal temple in Nepal, and was initiated by a Navajo peyote master in the high desert of New Mexico. He has been an astrologer for over twenty years, has lectured throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Israel (including being a faculty member at most of the world's major astrological conferences), has hosted a radio show in Seattle, and has published numerous magazine articles in various countries.
Green currently living in Boulder, Colorado, with his wife and fellow astrologer Martina and his three children.

The Must Have Book for Astrologers

I stumbled in here, but I cannot pass through without praising this amazing book.
When the student is ready, the teacher appears. On January 30, 1989 (terrified because Pluto was approaching my ascendant), I opened this book and read the chapter regarding the position of my own natal Pluto. I remember standing there in the bookstore, stunned, because it felt as if Jeff had been following me around my entire life, taking notes. Like he knew all about me. The first thing I did was buy it immediately. The second thing I did was make a note of it in my ephemeris so that I would never forget the day. It was an aha! moment, when astrology really began to make sense.
When I began reading Pluto: The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul, I was impressed to learn Jeff had spent two years in a Vedantic Temple; completely sure he must have a 9th house Pluto in his chart; in awe of his astute observations regarding the two co-existing desires of the Soul; and a little too smug about where I thought I placed in the four natural evolutionary conditions.
This is the book that defined a neglected, greatly over-looked, far-away little planet that no one knew much about. It thoroughly explains every nuance of Pluto; the obsessions, compulsions, taboos, extremes; the two ways we experience its power and how to understand and accept transformation. Jeff covers the three reactions to the evolutionary impulse; the four ways Pluto affects evolution in our lives; the relationship of Pluto with the moon's nodes; Pluto retrograde; the meaning and effect of Pluto in each of the houses; in aspect with other planets; by transit, progression, and solar return; case studies; and charts I've never found anywhere else. The section on Pluto in aspect demystifies the meanings of not only the major and minor aspects, but also those you just can't seem to find in any other texts; the septile, quincunx, sesquiquadrate, even the novile. It's a treasure trove for the student and a great reference guide for the professional. My old copy is highlighted, underlined, noted, dog-eared, tattered, enshrined in a leather cover, always at hand, and held in great regard.
This is a profound book by the pioneer of Pluto that answers the questions, "Who am I? Why am I here?" and "What is my soul's true purpose in this life?" This is the book that answers the prayer to understand the conditions and seeming injustices of life. This is a book that confirms your suspicions that astrology isn't really about fortune-telling. It is the must have book for anyone who is serious about learning the language of the Universe and the meaning of life.

A critical work for any astrologer

The crisis of adulthood is to know who we are at the core. Most works on astrology deal with what is apparent about an individual. Jeff, in his insights into the working of Pluto in the individual's chart, focuses on what is not apparent- the crisis and confrontations the soul constructs in life to force its own evolution and thereby, the individual's inner realization of purpose for their sojourn on earth.
The placement of Pluto in the individual's chart, together with the nodal axis, describes the elemental theme of the individual's life. For those who wish to see past the glare of the Sun and Moon, into the darkness of their own inner reaches, this is a most interesting map.
In time Jeff's work will come to be held as the foundation of astrological work on individual dynamics.

A full course meal on understanding your growth

This outstanding book provides so much information that I found myself reading bite-sized portions, and taking time to digest them before reading on. Jeff's insights on human growth, reincarnation, astrology, and the questions of human existence are profound. I have always suspected that if we mere humans would get a direct answer about the meaning of life, we'd be unable to process it. Jeff's book bridges this gap for me. I find new information each time I pick up this wonderful book. It's like having access to a mystic who drops pearls of wisdom into your ear each time you open the cover.
I have heard Jeff speak about this subject several times, and am always amazed at the depth of his comments and how relevant they are for daily living. If you ever get the chance, hear him speak. If you are looking for more of Jeff's work, see his volume II from Amazon.com.
