Magical and touching

I loved this story. I loved its delicate hues - the light and the dark ones. I liked the idea of a homecoming. And I liked the fact that the title Lone Star had multiple meanings for it - even a final one being revealed in the very end of the story.

I was fascinated with Mitch: him being so control freak and workaholic, his memories about his youth and his troubled relationship with his father... and the nostalgic feel of him meeting all these people who used to mean so much to him. I had all these motherly feelings towards him, because I felt he needed to be saved - and fast. What can I say? Josh Lanyon captured Mitch's obsession with his work and career as a ballet dancer perfectly.

In the end the story left me thinking about the second chances we too rarely get. It happened with Mitch and Web, but not with Mitch and his father. There was a slightly sad undertone to this story - and maybe a lesson to learn? I kept thinking how hasty actions and decisions that appear so small and innocent at the time can have a huge effect to the person's future. That is scary for real. I'm afraid I recognize some of my own traits in Mitch, temper and workaholism not being the nicest ones.

I became very fond of Mitch right from the start, but in the end it was Web who really warmed my heart. His love for Mitch was so solid and sure. And the way he petted Mitch and took care of him... it was adorable. And it was fascinating to notice the point when Web clearly decided not to let Mitch go for the second time.

I'm beginning to see that Josh Lanyon writes my favorite Christmas stories. This one was beautiful and touching. And it's always nice to have a small mystery in a Christmas story - magically appearing and disappearing reindeer in this case. Bonus points for that magical touch! ;)

Romantic and sweet

Having lived in Oklahoma for several years, and having a partner who is from Texas, I have a great affection for that part of the country. That is partly why I especially enjoyed this story. It is a little short, of course, and I would have loved for it to have been longer. Even so, it is a romantic and sweet story, with characters I could relate to and care about. I had to read it all the way through in one sitting.

this is the first lanyon book i read and i dug it. he doesn't hand everything to you. the reindeer thing for example you get on your own. it also wasn't overloaded with sex. i'm already planning on buying his book on writing as soon as i can and i want to read more of his stuff. i hope he continues to be as enjoyable in his other stories as this.

About the Author
X. SHELDON LIN, PhD, ASA, is Professor of Actuarial Sciences in the Department of Statistics, University of Toronto. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and an Associate Editor for North American Actuarial Journal and Insurance: Mathematics and Economics. Dr. Lin's research interests include mathematical finance, actuarial science, and applied probability. He is an author or coauthor of more than 40 research papers in these areas. He jointly received two annual prizes of the Society of Actuaries in 1998 and 2004 for his research in actuarial science.

Could hardly wait. I've actually been waiting for Rachal Perez to write and publish since she was just a child. She was always very talented, energetic and bubbling with creativity. You will love her book filled with anticipation, passion and heart racing passages from chapter to chapter. I recommend this book. Fell in love with the characters and I'm sure everybody will too. Series, Play, Movie material.

This review is so over due but much neededThis short story is beyond just five starsThe story not only talks about love when you least expect it but it also tells a story on when finally having that love to be strong enough to rise above all the negatives that try and break up a happy home due to pure jealousySheri and Marcus make such a great coupleHeaven really made there love surface to lightTrevor and Desire make a great couple as well and even though Tess managed to do some horrific jealousy and messy acts to break Desire and Trevor apartIt really made them that much strongerEspecially with a little interference from CathyTess is a piece of work and she is a conniving jealous cold hearted female dogThat was some sneaky messed up s*** that she did but in the end her so called plan back firedDesire and SheriI love those two and they are a true one of a kindThis novel is truly a TASTE OF HEAVENPureSophisticatedSexyand EroticLove was truly in the air

Perfect for the intermediate Chef cookbook develope who wants to do more!

I'm no novice Chef cookbook developer but I'm not an expert either. I've been involved with developing a new configuration strategy for our product that has both Windows- and Linux-based nodes. I have been using Chef for about 8 months now, supporting existing cookbooks, and developing my own. We have an on-premise Chef 12 Enterprise server.

The chapters dealing with the following topics "in-depth" made this book worth having since these are topics I wanted to expand my knowledge on.
- Chef infrastructure
- chef-client run walk through
- knife plugin development
- LWRP and HWRP development
- Chef REST API

I only gave it 4-stars though since I was wishing it had a topic knife bootstrap - anatomy of a bootstrap, modifying or extending bootstrap behavior beyond the custom template, etc. I would've given it a 4.9/5.0 if the rating mechanism allowed me.
