Sizzling hot and danger!

Laird Campbell's son Tristan is being held prisoner in the north wing of the castle. Muira, as well as the rest of the villagers have presumed him dead for a decade. Muira follows the old man to the north wing and gets claimed by Tristan for his own. He will ask Muira to get something for him that will put her life in danger. Fantastic, can't wait for the next book!

Secrets of the castle.

After her father's death and no money coming in, Muria set out to work at the castle to help her family. Once at the castle, she hears rumors about the laird's only son. Some say he is dead and some say he is alive, but to stay away from the north wing of the castle.
One night when everyone was a sleep, Muria hears noises coming from the kitchen. She then follows a very strange old man to the north wing of the castle. There she meets the lairds son.
This is a fast reading and very enjoyable book to read and it leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for book two.

What mystery is Tristan hiding from Muira? Muira is falling further and further down the rabbit hole with her deep rooted passion for the young Laird. With his helper Muria is able to release Tristan from a magical barrier? Is is enough? Will the beast rise within him? How does Muira play into this world of mystery. I too am falling into the world of magic. I have been riding on the edge of my seat waiting for the next bite! I love the passion and exotic mystery that Tristan embodies. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for these two lovers.

About the Author

Anthony King is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Exeter. He has written on sport, social theory, and the armed forces including his most recent books The Transformation of Europe's Armed Forces (Cambridge University Press 2011) and The Combat Soldier (Oxford University Press 2013). He is currently working on a book on divisional headquarters. He has acted as a mentor and adviser to the armed forces for a number of years including membership of NATO's ISAF RC (South) Prism Cell in 2009-10 in Kandahar.

A Misunterstood Classic

I am one who is very happy to see a translation of "Book of Tasty and Healthy Food: Iconic Cookbook of the Soviet Union," which in the Soviet Union was simply known as "The Book." This is the most important cookbook of the Soviet period, and arguably the third, or fourth, most important cookbook in Russian and Soviet History. Most people begin the history of Russian cookbooks with the Medieval morals tract "The Domostroi: Rules for Russian Households in the Time of Ivan the Terrible" (available on amazon) which had important things to say about food, food preparation and proper diet in an Orthodox Christian society. In the 19th century, Elena Molokhovets defined the current Russian cuisine for upper middle class households with the book wonderfully translated and researched by Joyce Toomre: "Classic Russian Cooking: Elena Molokhovets' "A Gift to Young Housewives" (also available on amazon).

"Book of Tasty and Healthy Food: Iconic Cookbook of the Soviet Union" was intended to define Soviet cookery with some very specific goals in mind: 1) that the food be nutritious, 2) that cooking time was to be to me minimized, so as to free women from the "drudgery" of the kitchen, 3) to set standards, and promote public eateries (again, to ensure liberation from the kitchen), 3) to define an overall national cuisine for the Soviet Union. The Soviets deeply admired American industrialized agriculture and food production, and attempted to imitate them.

Russia and the Soviet Union were/is an enormously complex country with over 100 nationalities and languages within its borders. Each of these groups has its own cuisine. "The Book" reflected many of the major cuisines, and combined them into a generalized culinary culture. This is an enormously important book in the history of Russian cooking, and the translators and publisher need to be commended for an accomplishment. An interesting sidelight of the book is that all recipes can be executed by a moderately competent cook. Kudos.

Recipes With a Side of Propaganda - Recommended

The "Book of Tasty and Healthy Food" is an interesting mix of cold war Soviet propaganda that also serves up some decent recipes. Written at a time when the USSR was desperately trying to convince the world and it's own citizens that communist country's way of life was the best in world, the book is a cross between a study of good table manners, practical food preparation and meal planning guide, and cookbook. It had to also be very frustrating since, as noted in the "Introduction", many of the ingredients would not have been commonly available to the average Russian citizen at the time.

The recipes are actually quite good and several have dated pictures to show how the dish should be served, which was actually very interesting to see.

This is a very good cookbook for those looking for something a little different.

They are the bane of most writer's existence. I know for me...it's the WORST part of a book or a series. Especially when the characters become very dear to you. While writing the end of Logan and Izzy's book I thought I knew exactly where it needed to go.

I was wrong.

Middle of the night insanity aside - the book has been updated today - day of release. So please update your file as soon as possible. If you download this book after 3/31/15 around noon then you're fine. But if you preordered it....Sigh.

I'm no longer doing preorders for my own personal series. It's just not how I was built as a writer. So please download an update to Izzy and Logan's last book - they're worth it I hope.

-- MY THOUGHTS --
This is the third book in the serial. You MUST read the first two, in order, before reading this to have any hopes of knowing what is going on. It's written in the 3rd-person POV.
Part three starts off in an adrenaline-fueled haze of chaos and excitement, although not in good way. It is a continuation from ANYTHING BUT MINE and BULLETPROOF WEEKS, therefore the cast of characters are almost all the same. There are a few minor additions. Where the story started out extremely strong, it mellowed in the middle. It was only around the 80% mark that it picked back up again. This is NOT to say it was boring or bad, the pace just smoothed out into a more serene one. The writing style creates an easy read either way. There were numerous conflicts throughout that were handled wonderfully. Predictability was NOT an issue, at all. In fact, there's a nice twist-y surprise in the climax. The conclusion is great, everything is wrapped up tightly and expanded upon in a wonderful epilogue. I'd recommend buying the trilogy and reading it as one book. It's a great journey.

I was provided an ARC for my honest opinion of this novel. I am not a reviewer that likes to repeat the brief synopsis of a book, nor do I provide spoilers or specific scenes, as I have found many individuals reading reviews do not like to read that repetition.
This is the conclusion to Taryn Elliott's 3 part series, When You Were Gone. The two previous books, in this series, are beautifully written and well worth reading! With that being said, Edge of Forever is an absolute masterpiece!! Taryn Elliott grabs your attention from page one and doesn't let go until the very last word on the very last page. Logan and Izzy have an undeniable physical attraction to one another that is prominent throughout the previous books and this one. Edge of Forever is more than just an HEA kind of book, you will feel wrung out with emotion and then put back together again at the end. As Logan and Izzy complete their journey towards their own HEA they have to work for it, fight for it and risk it all. I was gutted with a gamut of emotions, sympathy, grief, happiness, wonder. Taryn Elliott draws you into Logan and Izzy's world until you forget you're reading a story and you feel like you are living in their world. Truly her best to date! I cannot wait to read more of this author's work.

Pierced my heart and soul

The last book ended with a catastrophic event that forever altered Bella's life and seriously injured her. Logan takes extreme measures to ensure her safety while she heals emotionally and physically.

Recovery from traumatic events isn't simple or easy no matter how many resources you have available and this story nails the point. Logan's commitment to Bella is unshakeable though she tests it constantly. I loved getting both of their points of view and Bella's was simply heart wrenching. I was swept up in their struggle to find their way out of despair.

The source of all the trauma and suspense was always in the background and I felt that tension throughout the entire story. The climax was chilling and surprising, catching me completely off guard.

I loved this trilogy and how this story ended. While some of what happened pierced my heart and soul, those events added a layer of reality and believability not often experienced in contemporary romances. Bella and Logan might have had a lightning quick start to their relationship but it withstood some serious challenges. It's a wonderful story and a great, sexy romance.

Rebuilding Our Ethics Through Trust

Dr. Jane Goodall and Dr. Marc Bekoff have compiled ideas, stories, experience and much more about living a humane and ethical life into a book accessible to all. As the animal protection community has done for 50 years, this book shows that humans must respect the environment and all life if we, as a species, expect to survive. It is a very simple premise yet humanity has yet to catch on. The Ten Trusts not only gives us a path to follow, but it shows how others have acted before in trying to alter destructive patterns. Caring for others (animals, humans and nature) is not something radical, it is - humane! It is something everyone must do.
Goodall and Bekoff share their experiences from living a life of compassion and a boundless ethic. Few people are as well known and respected as Jane Goodall, but she has never rested on her fame. Instead, she stepped away from her field research and beloved friends in Gombe National Park, not to build monetary wealth, but to share her wealth of knowledge with young and old alike through lectures and programs such as Roots and Shoots. While Bekoff has spent years educating a more humane youth at the University of Colorado, all while helping us to better understand and appreciate animal behavior.
Over the last two years the Bush administration has systematically deconstructed even basic protections for the environment in order to please corporate greed. A moving, enlightening, reaffirming book.

This is a wonderful book, filled with information and perspectives from which everyone will benefit. I recommend this book to "the converted" as well as to those who are unsure what all the vegetarians and animal-rights people are going on about. It's not a preachy book and it's not purely for animal lovers or "tree-huggers" -- it's a book for any human who cares (even slightly) about how his or her life affects other lives--the life of the planet and the lives of the animals (including humans) who live on it. I cannot imagine anyone who could read this book and not be affected by it. It's also very encouraging to read about the success of Ms. Goodall's Roots & Shoots program -- hopefully, the generations touched by her knowledge will do a better job than we have.

A Global Essential

Of the many books I have read dealing with environmental issues, this has had a major impact. The authors have tremendous credibility and scientific knowledge. If ever there was a canary in the mine, it is this book. We have plundered our planet, ignored the quality of life for other sentient beings, and have failed to see the need for a balance in nature and our own lives.
There are messages here that all should heed. But, most of all, there is hope if we pay attention.
Our current U.S. and world leadership has failed our planet. Hopefully, there are those who can steer the world back on course.
