Hilarious

This book is amazing. The whole Rani Adventures series is amazing. As an MK myself I grew up with these books. We still talk about them in my family years later. The book gives wonderful descriptions as to what it is like growing up as an MK. What is really neat is that you will never meet an MK with the exact same story but all of them can relate their stories to one another somehow. It is a hilarious book full of stories that you can't even imagine. If you want to learn more about what it is like living overseas, or if you want to know more about MKs then read the whole series. I highly recommend it! Enjoy it to your heart's content!

A fantastic cultural insight

My daughter is 12 and both she and I LOVED it. She is hanging out for her birthday to get the next 2 instalments! For parents of younger readers, there is one sad moment describing the death of a young boy. It is very brief and in keeping with the story but my daughter and I needed to talk about it, so parents need to be alerted to that. But the story runs as one long amazing adventure and the rest is exciting and funny. Book 2, here we come!

Wonderful Book

This has been one of my favorite books since I was introduced to it in Middle School. It's the remarkable autobiography of an MK (Missionary's Kid) growing up in the jungles of South America. Ron Snell writes in such a way as to immerse you in the story. You'll laugh with him and his siblings most of the time, but there are spots where you'll cry.

Worthwhile slog

Millar's conclusions are filled with resonance and provide an important perspective. The evolution of Republican institutions at the dawn of the Imperial period, The level of democracy and it's coexistence with autocratic rule, ...etc. are issues that Millar explores as no one else can. Wading through his summarization of epigraphic nuggets is difficult enough, and one can only imagine the effort Millar must have devoted to sifting the vast body of evidence. This book is a must for authors who need information about how to write dialog-the best that I have read. The author reviews manuscripts for a major publisher and often an excellent story is rejected because of bad dialog.

He believes that in a novel for example some authors reproduce exact words said by their characters - this is wrong and is not dialog. Many books on writing give incorrect information about writing dialog.

The book also gives other valuable tips for a new author.

2 Year Old Daughter Loves It!

Great quality, perfect for our 2 year old daughter who loves Dora and anything tiny. We got this book pretty much only for the 12 mini figures it comes with, not for a high quality book. The book just has a few pages plus a fold out "play" poster that you can play with the figures on top of, although my daughter doesn't use it and instead carries the figures around in a little pocket book. The figures include Dora, her parents and grandmother, Tico, Boots, Map, Swiper, the Troll and a few other figures whose names I forget but who my kids knew exactly who they were from the show. The quality of the little figures is fine, just as good as any typical toy store figure, only in a more miniature size. A big hit in our house, along with a few others of these storybooks.

Must be supervised! My two year old granddaughter loves this book especially the figures, she carries around all day.
But beware they are very small, must be watched when playing with as to not be put in mouths.

I started this without having read the first book in the series and while I don't think I really needed to read the first one, I probably should of just to get the background info on Tripp and Lexi and exactly was Zeus' Game was, but again, I don't think it was necessary. I never felt lost or confused as a lot of the info was stated again throughout the story.

I love stories about reincarnation and love that transcends time. It might be the hopeless romantic in me or maybe it just appeals to me because the stories are always so great, either way, I jumped at the chance to join in the blog tour for this one. Who doesn't love a good love story, mixed up with a centuries old mystery and the gods and goddesses of Greek time?

This was a fun story that kept me entertained and had just enough romance, paranormal and mystery to balance it all out. I never felt like one element overpowered the other.

I did guess early on who the culprit was in the story but that never detered me from enjoying it either and even though I was pretty sure I knew who it was, there were a few times that something would happen and then I had to question my choice.

I think the author did a great job with this, the characters were endearing and the plot entertaining. I would definitely pick up the next in the series.

LOVED IT!

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Ms Laine's writing, and I'm certainly a big fan of the first book of the Games of Zeus series: Hide & Seek. To be honest, when I picked Silent Echoes up to read, I was somewhat concerned about it living up to the first book. Because Tripp Fox is pretty much my ultimate book boyfriend and has been for a while. However, I needn't have worried, because Silent Echoes turned out to be everything I wanted it to be and then some. I would even go so far as to say Tripp almost had a replacement--almost (come on, this is Tripp!).

Yep, SE has a lot going for it, and I shall attempt to organise what I think that it in my words.

Strong MC's. Check. Taylor is tough whilst being vulnerable, relatable, charming, and there were a good few moments where I wanted to be her (I'll let you guess which ones). And Ian? Oh, yeah, baby. Bear with me whilst I ramble (coz I'm always all about the guys). We get an introduction to Ian in Hide & Seek, and he comes across as sarcastic, a little brash, maybe conceited but not in an unattractive way, and if he hangs around with Tripp Fox, then he has to be cool and hot (in my head, anyway). In Hide & Seek, he was kinda Tripp's witty sidekick. In Silent Echoes? Yeah, total role reversal, because Ian 100% holds his own in the spotlight.

Mystery and intrigue. Check. Yep, there is mystery throughout this book that unfolds slowly, with twists and turns, and the reader can't help but trying to figure it out right up till the very end.

Thriller-ness. Check. Tying in with that mystery, there are a few moments of revelation that lead to excitement and action and keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

Romance. Massive check. That mystery and intrigue and thriller-ness I mentioned? Yep, the romance is all a-tangled up in every bit of that because the romance aspect of it is the biggest mystery of all ... until everything becomes clear. And boy, does Ms Laine know how to write romance. She'll have you swooning and mooning and sighing and ... you get the picture.

Ian. What? He deserved another mention.

To wrap it up: Silent Echoes is a GREAT addition to this series and has left me mightily eager for more.

Dive straight into a mystery that turns into a love triangle of epic proportions!
How many times will you die for your true love? Three? Four?

If you read book 1, Hide & Seek, you'll understand why I was so excited to see Tripp again, so excited I squealed! Tripp Fox fans will be happy to be reunited with him and Lexi in Silent Echoes, even though they don't take center stage in this story.

Zeus has, yet again, been playing games with us lowly humans. Tripp's best friend and business partner, Ian, now has his very own story, complete with his own love interest. Ian is an amazing "good guy" and we get to know him a lot better in book 2. We met Taylor in the previous book, as a strong willed and very independent woman. In this story, we learn more about Taylor and what makes her "special". Finding out her fears and weaknesses makes you relate to her even more. With the help of Tripp and Lexi, can they outsmart Zeus and have their HEA too?
