With over 25 years of experience, Lora D. Delwiche enjoys teaching people about SAS software and likes solving challenging problems using SAS. She has spent most of her career at the University of California, Davis, using SAS in support of teaching and research.

Susan J. Slaughter discovered SAS software in graduate school over 25 years ago. Since then, she has used SAS in a variety of business and academic settings. She now works as a consultant through her company, Avocet Solutions.

This is the book that should come with your SAS installation

I drove myself crazy looking for basic information on the syntax and options of the SAS language. The SAS support site is a joke, and most of the SAS publications are ridiculously expensive. I was turned off by the title of this book, and I didn't think it would apply to SAS Enterprise Guide. I was wrong. This was exactly what I needed: a "get your foot in the door" basic reference to SAS programming syntax suitable for people who already have experience with programming. I wish I had bought this book months ago.

Compact and great for quick reference

I needed a quick reference with an explanation and an example to fix a program and The Little SAS Book had exactly what I needed. I was hesitant to buy the kindle version but I am so glad I did!

Picking up a NES controller and playing ExciteBike blew his tiny young mind away. After that he begged his parents for one and then one fateful Christmas morning..... A Super Nintendo was under the tree and he has owned every single Nintendo system since that. He is long time gamer and appreciates how things were done back in the day. Nostalgic Game Lovers Dairy :)

Super Mario Bros is one of the most iconic video games in existence. I a a 90’s kid and I grew up playing this and this book made me nostalgic about my grand quest to recuse the princess. This book deserves all the power ups and coins!

This book definitely over-delivers, I will read the other books too! Will definitely recommend!

Captions are almost all cut off and unreadable on both my Kindle Voyage and desktop app. I've attached an example of what I mean. Bummer, because the maps are pretty cool and, typos and grammar issues aside, it seems like a fun nostalgic read.

Not Big Enough Maps!

There are 79 pages wasted on a table of city names versus page number and map location. There are only 89 pages of actual detailed maps. There are 48 pages wasted on world city maps. There are 32 pages wasted on statistics that belong in a world almanac. Only 35% is what an atlas should be. The spine is too stiff. For example in western Canada, you can not read the inside 1.25 inch of the map without breaking the spine. There is only 7.5 inches of readable map on each page

Not for classroom

Purchased for use for a high school geography classroom. Wouldnt have purchased if there had been a review that said, "Don't buy for classroom!" Atlas is not thematic and has driving maps of major cities in the world. Not useful for a Geography class. But, if you want a desk altas to map out a trip, for example, then maybe you might like it.

Index issues

If I am not mistaken, there are no country capitals listed in the index. I have looked for Moscow, Washington DC, and some others. They simply aren't there. I had an Intro to geography assignment that required me to find the coordinates for these cities. There are probably 50 pages of cities listed with their cords., but no capitols? I have looked to see if they are listed somewhere else in the book but I cannot find them. I give it 1 star for this reason. C'mon Oxford - I trusted this to be a scholarly work because your name was on it.

If I am mistaken and someone is able to find these cities, please let me know and I will gladly take this review down. I hate to review based on one issue (the other parts of the atlas seem to be good) but this issue makes me wonder what else this atlas is lacking. I will likely return it in the next few days.

The caption drawings make the atlas

This is a great resource for residents. A major problem with most atlases is that pictures of subtle findings are not properly annotated, so that the reader may miss the actual focus of the picture.
This atlas fixes the problem rather ingeniously: most pictures have an accompanying drawing that highlights and delineates each important finding and detail seen in the picture. Using these drawings, the reader can learn to identify these subtle but important features.
The use of such drawing makes so much sense that one wonders why more atlases do not employ the method.
I love the atlas for the great pictures, accompanying drawings, and good explanations.

Essential for Students

If you are a student of Ocular Pathology and can only buy one book, it should be this one. There is at least one picture of everything here, from glaucem fleken to schlerql staining. Also, all the pictures here are available as a slide set from the same publisher.

A good atlas. Not quite a comprehensive textbook though.

I like the spalton atlas a lot. The pictures are of good quality but there are a number of complaints I have. First is the size. It is very tall and unwieldy. Taller than the Yanoff book although not as wide. The text is somewhat unpredictable with significant detail on some topics but quite cursory coverage of others. I do like how the atlas specifically refers and often points out findings in the photographs. The other thing that bothers me is the atlas has no specific pediatrics section. The competition is the Wills atlas, Kanski text and Kanski atlas, Mass eye and ear atlas, Yanoff text. Overall, I would say this book offers an excellent resource for good pictures with some supplementary text. If looking for only pictures,consider "clinical diagnosis in ophthalmology" by kanski. If looking for more of a textbook, consider the other yanoff book or other kanski book. If looking for a pocket atlas, consider the mass eye and ear text. If looking for a thinner more portable atlas, albeit less comprehensive, consider the wills atlas.

Y. FRANK CHENG, PhD, is Professor and Canada Research Chair in Pipeline Engineering at the University of Calgary. Dr. Cheng has published over 115 journal articles dedicated to corrosion, pipeline engineering, and materials science. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences Committee for Pipeline Transportation of Diluted Bitumen; the Editorial Board of Corrosion Engineering, Science and Technology; and the Board of Directors of the Canadian Fracture Research Corporation. Best math prep for the SAT/ACT

Peterson's has the best SAT/ACT prep books, and this one tops the list.
It's just math....an explanation, then some exercises to test your skills in each area. You can take the diagnostic test at the beginning of each section to see if you need more study in that area or not.
There's no extra reading to do, and it's very well organized. I use it
with all my students.

Does not reflect the SAT at all!

I bought this book hoping to get some practice for the math section of the SAT. Turns out that I made a huge mistake. Heres why:

Let me start by acknowleging the good part of the book. It gives you a very detailed explanation of how to do a lot of the math problems. It gives you a diagnostic test, exercises, and retests for each chapter. That is why it deserves at least 1 star.

However, I did not like this book because it had irrelevant parts to it. For example, the book starts off "teaching" you how to do simple arithmetic problems like "1+2" or "3x2". it then progresses into harder topics. There were plenty of mistakes. For example, lets say an answer was 3. A mistake would look like this: A)3 B)1 C)3 D)4 E)5. Also, don't get tricked by the "3 full length practice math tests" that is stated on the cover. They give you 30 minutes to do 25 math problems. Normally, I would finish 25 math problems in the 30 minutes that are alloted. In this book, I finished the 25 problems in 20 minutes! Either I am REALLY REALLY improving or the problems are just too easy! For each test, they devote 1 ENTIRE section to grid ins. They give you 30 minutes to do 10 grid in problems, and 10 only!!! I finished in 10 minutes.

Overall, this book has some editing problems. It does not reflect the SATs at all! I mean, come on, does the SAT actually give you 1 entire section for grid in problems?

About the Author
Walter Savitch is Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at the University of California-San Diego. He received his PhD in mathematics from the University of California-Berkeley in 1969. Since that time he has been on the faculty of the University of California-San Diego (UCSD). He served as director of the UCSD Interdisciplinary PhD program in cognitive science for over ten years. He has served as a visiting researcher at the computer science departments of the University of Washington in Seattle and at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and has been a visiting scholar at the Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica in Amsterdam.
Kenrick Mock is an Associate Professor at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He has also taught at Washington Stat University, Portland State University, and the University of California-Davis. He teaches undergraduate computer science courses across the curriculum including introductory C++, Java(TM), Visual Basic(R) for non-programmers, algorithms, computer security, and artificial intelligence. With the Coastal Marine Institute at UAA, he helped develop a computer system to aid in research about Alaska sea ice and the atmosphere. Before becoming a teacher, Mock was a research scientist and software engineer at Intel(TM). He received a PhD in computer science from UC Davis.
