Analog Design for CMOS VLSI Systems is a comprehensive text that offers a detailed study of the background principles and the analog design techniques for CMOS-VLSI implementation. The book covers the physical operation and the modelling of MOS transistors. Discusses the key features of integrated passive components and studies basic building blocks and voltage and current references before considering in great details the design of op-amps and comparators.

The book is primarily intended for use as a graduate-level textbook and for practising engineers. It is expected that the reader should be familiar with the concepts taught in basic introductory courses in analog circuits. Relying on that proper background knowledge the book presents the material on an intuitive basis with a minimum use of mathematical quantitative analysis. Therefore, the insight induced by the book will favour that kind of knowledge gathering required for the design of high-performance analog circuits. Good tips

This might not be among the most comprehensive books out there dealing with analog design but, here the author includes something that many don't - he gives design tips. It is good once in a while being reminded about what is important. However, a big minus in this book is the language. I understand that the author is not a native English speaker but, Kluwer must have done something about it. It seems as though they just took the manuscript and printed it without reading/correcting it - which is a pity because their books are expensive, and in this case one wonders about where the quality is vis-à-vis the price. Well, for me, I frequently needed to read the text more than once to understand what the author is trying to convey. But this flaw is not related to the technical content of the book. The author's experience in the field is reflected in the technical details.

Clean exposition of CMOS circuit design

I happened across this book at the local engineering library while looking for books to brush up on CMOS design. This was my favorite of several books I checked out. Professor Maloberti has taught a CMOS class in Italy for many years, and this is essentially the text of his course. The explanation in the book bears the marks of someone who has explained the topic many times and revised his explanation so that only the important parts remain and are presented in logical sequence. It is not an enclopedia of CMOS layout and circuits, like Baker's two books. It covers fewer topics but goes into more depth on each one.
The level is that of a first semester graduate course in CMOS, not for absolute beginners, but anyone with undergrad courses in electronics (like Sedra and Smith) ought to be able to follow Maloberti without a problem. The explanations are both quantitative and qualitative. He develops equations but also explains circuit behavior from an intuitive point of view. Even circuit topologies that are not obvious at first glance, like the folded cascode, become clear after Maloberti takes you through the predessor circuits.
He has quite a few examples conducted in Spice throughout the text. I find the examples are quite helpful both in gaining insight into how to similate CMOS circuits, and in getting calibrated on realistic circuit behavior. Although it is not a book on layout, he does give quite a few examples of representative layouts for different circuit elements and topologies.
The only reason I don't give it five stars is that English is obviously a second language for the author. Sometimes the English gets in the way of the exposition. However, if you stop and think for a minute, the context almost always makes clear what he is saying. Kluwer could have fixed this easily by having a native speaker edit the text. Perhaps they will in a future edition.
Overall, I highly recommend Maloberti as an introduction and reference text on CMOS. I think it is the one I will keep coming back to for reference in future design.

Clear and well-organized

Witulski's review is right on the money. The English is odd, but mostly it just makes reading it more fun. Exposition is clearer than a great many texts. At the level of Razavi "Design of Analog CMOS Integrated Circuits". Format is like a text book, with good figures and fonts, and text inserts to emphasize points: not the usual Kluwer kludge.

A unique take on a Vampire Romance

The Chronicles of My Paranormal Romance by Adam G. Tarsitano is not your ordinary romance novel. Instead or a way to mushy, Twilight-like love story, Tarsitano writes a unique one. The story is told from the author’s point of view and shows how he struggles to write the ultimate vampire romance novel.

The Chronicles of My Paranormal Romance is the second book I have read by Adam G. Tarsitano. The first one being Broken Birdie Chirpin, which was about a rock star. So far The Chronicles of My Paranormal Romance is my favorite work of his. I really liked that it was not the typical romance novel. I do love vampire romances but too often they are the same story told in slightly different ways. Tarsitano puts a completely new spin on the romance with it being in the background and the focus of the story being the author’s life. Tarsitano not only wrote a romance but also showed what authors go through to actually create a novel in this book. I have yet seen any other author with a story similar to this.

I really enjoyed The Chronicles of My Paranormal Romance and liked seeing how an author thinks and what he goes through to actually write a novel. This book has added to my respect for all authors. It has also made me curious about Adam G. Tarsitano and wonder how similar is he to his character Zevon Drainer. I do look forward to reading more of Tarsitano’s work.

Unique Narrative

I loved it-a story in a story. A view into the writer's mind where you feel that you have peaked behind the curtain of a writer's conscience; the guilt to convey the story as seen in the mind's eye, to balance life, work and the key to succeed as a writer-essentially learning to live a double life. This was an easy read, a creative distraction and a stellar follow-up novel. Bravo!!!

Honest and raw.. I related to the story at a deeper level

I didn't know what to expect when I first started reading and was touched by Tarsitano's honesty. I related to the trials of having to juggle a day job with the desire to immerse myself in my creative projects. The thoughts pouring onto the pages touched me because they are so real. I want the author to know... Don't ditch your first novel but do keep writing... your art is what drives you and your writing is very good.

Great book!

I found this book very informative. I was looking for more information on the current major Sufi schools, and this book devotes a whole chapter to the prominent MTO Shahmaghsoudi (Oveyssi) school and their center in Sufi Abad, Iran. I have also read Dr. Grisell's introduction to Hidden Angles of Life by Hazrat Shah Maghsoud Sadegh Angha, and I find his writing very approachable but still sophisticated.

The only annoying part of the book is that it has a bunch of typos, otherwise it would have been 5 stars!
